Expressive aromas of peach and nectarine skins, sliced nashi pear and icing sugar dusted confectionery.
On drinking this sake has a luscious medium-sweet mouthfeel with tastes of juicy pear and golden delicious apple. the palate then broadens to have an edge of orange pith bitterness which changes the dynamic of the sake and acts as a refreshing dry finish.
When it comes to food – this sake is an all rounder, like many in the Tokubetsu Junmai group. It suits foods which are high in umami like grilled meats – beef, lamb and chicken but would be great with a pizza topped with obligatory tomato sauce base and dripping cheese. The sake has great bones to drink with complex spicy foods like a Malaysian curry or a spicy Thai stir-fry and yet has a clean sense which suits the delicacy of seafood and simple fish dishes. Would be a great drink to open with grilled scallops or fish and chips at the beach.
Serve chilled and store in the refrigerator after opening.
